Lunch at Forte Cafe

A number of us ventured over to Forte Café for a social get together after the Garvan seminar. It's go great to take on an opportunity to mix when we can.

Dinner at the RSL

Our gathering at Oatley RSL Club was short notice but we still had 14 adults and 3 energetic children attend. Once again it was nice to see familiar faces, after dinner we all had a yarn about how our health was and what’s happening with the Foundation.

While my 2 children led little James astray, I think the children were enjoying themselves. I had a great time seeing you all, thank you for the great evening.

Kids + Animals = Fun!

We held a family fun morning with Taronga Park Zoo Mobile visiting us with various reptiles, frogs etc for the kids to enjoy. We thoroughly enjoyed the 1hr presentation then laid back for a sausage sizzle in the park.

The venue, Putney Park, is a very popular park located next to the Parramatta River. It was a great place for us to meet with beautiful waterviews in the background. Thanks to those who helped cook the snags and set up.

It was great to see Anne Craighead, paediatric nurse, there having fun with the chidlren and conversing with the parents in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Acromegaly High Tea

An Acromegaly High Tea fundraiser, kindly organised by one of our members Rochelle. Rochelle has acromegaly herself and wanted to help raise money for the APF by having this high tea. There was a trade table of handmade items available to purchase and an auction of items that were donated for the cause. Rochelle spent a great deal of time organising everything for the day.

I started by giving a short intro about the APF and myself and then Rochelle spoke about herself and her daily struggles with Acromegaly. This was an eye opener for those who don’t know what a pituitary disease is and how it affects people in their daily life.

It was a great afternoon with a lot of tea, delicious sweets and a lot of chit chat. More than 55 people attended which was fantastic.

I would like to thank everyone who attended and extend a big thank you to Rochelle and her family for taking the time to organise such a great day.

Old Vienna Coffee House

NSW held a social get together at the Old Vienna Coffee House on Sunday 20th April. The event was really well attended. It was great that some people even brought their children along. We met for about 3 hours and the table was buzzing. Lots of information shared.

Pat_and_Hui_Ling_(e).jpgSupport is what it's all about! In the photo you will see Pat (left) and Hui Ling (right). Hui Ling's husband came as well. Hui Ling was to have surgery very soon and was very nervous and worried. It turned out that Pat had had the same surgery some time ago and was able to reassure her so it was well worthwhile.

The Tin Shed Cafe

The Tin Shed Café in Thirroul was our venue for lunch and they certainly provided an excellent meal at a reasonable cost. There being 13 adults and two children in our party, we “took over” the front of the café and all involved appeared to enjoy themselves with plenty of opinions and stories shared.

The children were excellent - not at all
overawed by the experience.  Max who
   is our youngest member, unfortunately
suffers from a pituitary disorder, but
hopefully by the time he reaches maturity
will have a much    improved prognosis.
